Ten young people, nine (9) female and one (1) male supported by the National Youth Commission to be trained in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Operations at the Institute of Hotel Catering Technology and Management have had their final practical over the weekend.
Witnessing the event at the Institute’s campus on Tower hill, the Deputy Commissioner Emerson Kamara thanked the institute for requesting the Commission to give names of young people to be trained. He said more skills opportunities will be opened to youth but this goes with “the readiness of youth for their personal developments.”
He said, the Commission will provide startups for the youth and also undertake entrepreneurship training for them to effectively manage their businesses from the skills gained.
Isha Mariama Sesay one of the beneficiaries said, the training was very helpful. She said she can now start her own business and support her family.
All ten will receive a certificate in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Operations by the end of the year, says the Director of Studies Charles Kowa. He added that the students were equipped to work in any hotel in Sierra Leone.
