YOUNG WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMME (YWEAP)

YWEAP’s mission is to develop the capacity of young women for leadership and social survival through training and cross-generational mentoring, peer learning and advocacy in local communities and institutions of learning. To curtail the rising trend of teenage pregnancy and school drop outs.

The programme is designed to change the mind-set of young female youth growing up in an environment that increasingly confines them to traditional gendered roles through sustained awareness raising and community advocacy to enable young women to re-evaluate their intrinsic worth in their communities and society at large. Changing the attitudes and behaviors of young women is a major contributor in YWEAP that would up-lift the image of young women in Sierra Leone.

Project’s category: School going pupils, Street Girls/Young women in conflict with the law, Young women in the informal sector.
